I got a really good deal on two of the Raspberry Pi Model A Plus. Similarly to the model B Plus the A Plus is designed completely differently than the other the A plus is quite a bit smaller that the B. I wanted to create a case that would take advantage of this smaller form factor. decided to take a lot of elements from the case I built for the Original Lego Case for the Raspberry Pi Model B.
I created this case design about the same time as I was improving upon the Model B+ case. This time however I started from scratch. The A+ board is a little smaller and things are moved around. I used the nice hinges from the original design, shown to the left, except I moved if from long ways to the opposite. This took quite a bit of digging because all red flat pieces are hard to come by. I have a lot of Lego pieces and had to dig pretty hard to complete the enclosure. I now have my Legos completely organized by Lego brick type but at the time it was a lot of digging through bins to find the piece you want.
Another tough problem for this build was finding enough flat pieces, shown to the left, so the lid can lay flat. I was digging for those in my big Lego bins. I found many of the flat pieces but not always in the right color. This design features all red bricks with a gray accent color. It is clean and the hinges work well. You can use all ports just as all my case designs so far. the hardest part of building these is finding the specific part, size, and color to fit together very much like a puzzle.
The thing I don’t like about this build is I feel it is too bulky in relation to how small the Raspberry Pi A Plus is. I may reuse this design on the Raspberry Pi Model B
